    The Council Tool Jersey Pattern Miner's Axe w/ Straight Hickory Handle is a single bit axe. It is also known as a miner's axe. It features a short handle which is ideal for working in a close area like underground mine. Its pattern is similar to earlier Kentucky and North Carolina. 

    Made of a 3.5-pound steel head which measures 7.5 inches. The head is hydraulically seated onto a 26-inch straight American hickory handle. It is secrued with a jagged aluminum wedge and hand sharpened and tapered for cutting and splitting purposes. The blade is coated with red enamel while the 5-inch cutting edge is coated with clear lacquer to prevent rust.
