The Spectra Geospatial SP85 GNSS Receiver replaces the Spectra SP80 as the brand’s most technology-forward GNSS receiver, boasting the ability to track 600 GNSS channels as compared with its predecessor’s 240 channels. This means better positioning availability, accuracy, and resilience even in challenging environments. The SP85 retains many of the SP80’s technologies including the GNSS-centric Z-Blade technology, 3.5G cellular modem, L-band satellite capability, WiFi, an anti-theft technology, and optional UHF communications.
Faster GNSS Processor: The ability to access more GNSS channels is made possible by the new 7G ASIC chipset processor. With increased computing power, this processor makes it easy to implement the enhanced GNSS-centric Z-Blade algorithm that lets the receiver fully use signals from 7 GNSS systems – GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS, IRNSS, and SBAS – in addition to MSS corrections delivered via L-band. This makes it possible to get accurate RTK position data even in challenging areas such as dense forests or urban areas. This powerful combo also enables GLONASS-only, Beidou-only, or Galileo-only modes for specific applications; quick acquisition and re-acquisition of GNSS signals; reduction of GNSS multipath; faster RTK fixes; and operation with 3rd party base stations.
Unmatched Connectivity: The SP85 offers a lot of connectivity options to boost surveyors’ productivity in the field whether it’s being used as a rover or base station. It can transmit RTK corrections via regular Internet or VRS connectivity using the integrated 3.5G cellular modem and connect to the internet using WiFi hotspots. The optional UHF radio allows RTK corrections to be relayed via radio and can be used to set up a UHF network (provided you use Survey Pro as the field software).
Trimble RTX Capable: With the L-band capable satellite, the SP85 can be used with Trimble RTX correction services such as the CenterPoint RTX, the most accurate satellite-delivered correction service in the market. By combining the SP85 and Trimble RTX, you can achieve centimeter-level accuracy even in areas without cellular service.
Future-Proof: The SP85 GNSS Receiver supports RTCM 3.2 Multiple Signal Messages (MSM), a standardized definition for broadcasting all GNSS signals from space, regardless of their constellation. This ensures that your investment will continue to have superior performance as new signals become available.
Anti-Theft Protection: The anti-theft protection feature lets you lock the receiver to a specific location and receive SMS and email alerts if the receiver is moved elsewhere. You will also be notified of the receiver’s current coordinates to help with recovering the device. This feature lets you confidently install the SP85 Receiver as a field base station in remote or public areas.
Designed for the Field: The SP85 is light, compact, easy to use, and rugged. It uses dual hot-swappable batteries to prevent interruptions to your workflow, with up to 10 hours of battery life with continuous use. It can also be powered by external DC power for even longer working hours. The IP67 waterproof and shatter-resistant fiberglass rod can handle abuse in the toughest working environments. With its daylight-readable screen, you can quickly access key mission details like RTK status, battery status, number of satellites, and so on. It also features the eLevel technology that makes leveling easier than ever before and automatically stores measurements when the receiver is level.
