The Turf-Tec Model R Irrometer / Tensionometer is an easy to operate instrument that measures soil moisture by using water tension. This tool is often used in irrigation, cropping, greenhouse applications, and in monitoring vadose zones. Start measuring by creating a hole and inserting the device into the soil, filling it with distilled water, and priming the suction with the Vacuum Hand Pump (Model R Irrometer Service Kit). After 24 hours, the ceramic block reaches equilibrium with the soil and produces a reading. You can leave the device installed in case a periodic check is needed for additional irrigation.

The Tur-Tec irrometer features a Butyrate plastic body, which soil chemicals or electrolysis cannot penetrate. Equipped with a fixed porous ceramic tip for quick responses in soil moisture, it also has an airtight sealed gauge that indicates soil suction from 0 to 100 centibars. A vast reservoir with a secure screw cap holds water as a replacement to water loss from the drying soil.

The leak-proof Model R tensionometer is available in four standard lengths with its service kit sold separately. This USA-made item comes with a 1-year limited warranty for your protection.
