Quick and easy to use, the Wixey WR503 Drill Press Depth Gauge makes drilling blind holes for hardware installation easier. It can be attached to the existing depth stop rod or directly to the collar on the quill. With a measuring depth of up to 6.5 inches, the WR503 has a resolution of 0.002 inches or 1/32 inches and an accuracy of ± 0.004 inches or ± 1/250 inches.

This depth gauge allows the user to instantly set the readout to read 0.00 where the drill bit first contacts the workpiece and measures the hole depth as the drill is lowered. Featuring thin and precise, easy to adjust cross-hairs, the WR503 can accurately measure drilling depth that displays results in inches with fractions or millimeters. This depth gauge fits drill presses with a quill that travel up to 6.5 inches.

The Wixey WR503 can mount to any drill press. It uses the CR2032 battery. Plus, it comes with in/mm, on/off/zero and abs/inc functions. In addition, it has an auto shut off feature to extend battery life.

Useful

I am a woodworker and use this to drill different depths on my projects. The gauge is very accurate. The only issue I have is that it doesn't stop the bit. While your drilling you have to watch the measurement. I had to go very slowly and the wood started burning. But, after I made the first hole, I set the depth stop on my drill press. And then I could drill accurate depth holes quickly.

Nifty DRO option

Great way to add accuracy to your drill press. The variety of brackets and mounting options worked fine on my old Craftsman 2/3hp drill press, it was easier than expected to install. They even include a drill bit for the mounting screws for the head unit.

Needs direct lighting to read.

This would be a much better product if the display was led instead of liquid crystal, the $15 digital tachometer I added to the drill press uses a red led display and is easily read whereas the WR503 isn't.
