The Ultra 4000 Automatic Inflatable PFD by Stearns is a USCG-approved Type V PFD with a lightweight, low-profile build that makes it comfortable to wear for hours. It automatically inflates when submerged in water but can also be manually inflated when the need arises. Once inflated, it turns unconscious wearers face-up and keeps their head above water until help comes. It’s made of a heavy-duty nylon exterior designed to withstand rough marine conditions, with SOLAS-grade reflective material placed strategically for improved visibility in any weather conditions.
Automatic inflation. With a clever CO2 gas cylinder mechanism, the Ultra 4000 automatically inflates when submerged in water and provides up to 33.7 lbs. of buoyancy. It can be used by individuals 16 years and older weighing 90 lbs. or more. Before use, the arming status of the inflation mechanism should be checked through the status indicator. If the indicator shows green, the cylinder is good to go. If red, it must be rearmed using the Stearns 0924 Rearming Kit.
In case of emergencies, the vest can also be manually inflated by pulling the lanyard or blowing through the oral tube. When used manually, the Ultra 4000 is classified as Type V and III. When used in automatic mode, it is classified as Type V and II. The vest should also be inspected for tears, leaks, and other signs of damage every few months.
Lightweight, comfortable design. When deflated, the Ultra 4000’s lightweight and non-bulky design doesn’t get in the way of the wearer’s movements. The vest is easy to put on and off with a two-inch adjustable belt with a single buckle, which also makes it easy to adjust the vest for a snug fit. It also has an emergency whistle on the bladder, a pocket for storing an extra cylinder or gear, and a D-ring for attaching keys or other gears.
With the Stearns Ultra 4000 Automatic Inflatable PFD, your crew can stay comfortable all day but still get the protection they need in case of an unexpected fall in the water.
