The Council Tool Pulaski Axe w/ Straight Hickory Handle is believed to have been developed in the early 1900's by Edward Pulaski, who was a Forest Service Ranger in Idaho. It has been known that his presence saved the lives of 45 men in August, 1910 during a large fire. This tool is perfect for forestry and general landscaping chores.
This Pulaski Axe is designed with a traditional style double bit blade on one end and a mattock blade on the other end for digging or grubbing. Made of a 3.75-pound steel head which measures 8.5-inch in length. It is hydraulically seated onto a 36-inch straight American hickory handle and secured with a jagged aluminum wedge. The blade is coated with red enamel while the 5-inch cutting edge is coated with clear lacquer to prevent rust. A model with included leather sheath is also available.
In addition, the Council Tool Pulaski Axe w/ Straight Hickory Handle is made in the USA and exceeds ANSI standards.
