The Turf-Tec Digital Soil Compaction Meter / Electronic Dial Penetrometer is the digital version of the dial penetrometer and is used for testing hardpans in the soil. This version differs by using an electronic force sensor, eliminating the need to change the tip size for different soil types. Meets the ASABE S313.3 Soil Compaction Standard, it has a rugged design and a rubber protector for repeated field use and soil monitoring.
To operate, push the Turf-Tec electronic dial penetrometer to the soil with steady downward pressure. The LCD reads in PSI or kPA, showing color-coded compaction severity and indicates the maximum or “peak” PSI. Operators can visually determine any hardpans in the soil profile down to 30 inches deep. Its stainless steel shaft is marked every 4” for easy depth reference.
The Turf-Tec Digital Soil Compaction Meter features a replaceable tip and includes two AA batteries and a 0.505” ultra-hard tool steel cone. This instrument is covered with a 1-year limited warranty for peace of mind.
