The Dayton Pattern Miner's Axe features an option of 20 or 26 inches straight handle made of American hickory. The short handle is ideal to use while working in close quarters like underground mine. It can also be easily kept in small compartments which makes it easy to maintain. The single bit 7-inch steel head is available in 3.5 or 4 pounds and is hydraulically seated onto the handle. It is secured by a jagged aluminum wedge. The blade is coated with red enamel while the 4.75-inch cutting edge is coated with clear lacquer to prevent rust.
