Also known as a "blacksmith" hammer, the Council Tool Cross Pein Hammer is ideally used by blacksmiths for shaping or peining metals.
Made of a forged steel head that weighs from 3 to 4 pounds. Its striking face is machine-made and beveled for safer performance. It is heat treated to increase hardness. It also has an optional 14-inch fiberglass handle with molded grip or a 15-inch American hickory handle which is kiln-dried. This hammer is hydraulically connected to the steel head. The metal head is coated with a clear lacquer finish to prevent rust.
In addition, the Council Tool Cross Pein Hammer is made in the USA and meets RC 46-54 (Rockwell) standards for hardness of the material and safety and toughness. It also exceeds ASME B107.54-2001.
