The SSI PL-1500 Utility Locator Transmitter Only is a simple and powerful pipeline locator that works with the PL-1500 receiver. This underground locator comes in 2 models: the low-frequency model with 3.0 W of power (for use with the 8 kHz receiver) and the high-frequency model with 1.0 W of power (for use with the 83 kHz receiver).
Simple to Use
The way the options are streamlined makes this pipe and cable locator system super-easy to operate. You don't have to memorize a menu, just decide how you want to apply the signal. There are 3 possibilities: conduction, clamp (direct connection), and inductive. The low-frequency transmitter's 3.0 W of power output in direct connection mode gives more range, allowing you to locate cables for longer distances. The display shows the actual power output in direct mode. You'll know in a flash if it's not enough, so you can increase the power level or move the ground stake. The inductive mode (0.5 W of output power) makes finding shorter pipes and cables a fast job.
Depth accuracy is <5% at 0-72” range. At the 78”-197” range accuracy is <10%.
This utility locator transmitter uses 8 “D” batteries, with a 20-hour typical battery life and 12 hours at maximum power. The transmitter measures 11”L x 4.1”W x 9.5”H and weighs 5.5 lbs (2.49 Kg). The SubSurface Instruments PL-1500 utility locator comes with a 3-year warranty.
