The Spectra Precision SP80 GNSS Single Receiver Kit is on the forefront of modern GNSS technology. This survey-grade GNSS receiver will take you into the future as well, since it supports the RTCM 3.2 Multiple Signal Messages (MSM) format – the standardized format for all satellite GNSS signals going forward. So your SP80 can be easily upgraded to accommodate new satellites and constellations as they come on line. This GPS receiver is equipped to handle all 6 of the current GNSS systems (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS, and SBAS) with Spectra's patented Z-Blade positioning system. The Z-Blade cuts through the difficulties of establishing an accurate fix in troublesome conditions (such as under a forest canopy or while surrounded by tall buildings) by accepting diversified input from all satellite systems. It works even without any visible GPS satellites at all.
Communications for the 21st Century
An integrated 3.5G modem can be used for SMS messages and email, as well as regular internet and VRS connectivity. The built-in WiFi and short-range (33') Bluetooth are there to make your life easier. You can monitor and set up your SP80 via text message or over the internet. The RTK Bridge lets you receive RTK corrections automatically wherever you have coverage and broadcast them using the optional UHF transceiver. The Backup RTK can compute your position from 2 simultaneous independent data streams and send out the better one. The SP80 is also CenterPoint RTX capable for satellite-delivered corrections when you don't have cellular coverage or an RTK base station. The CenterPoint RTX system (subscription needed) gives you a high range of accuracy (Horizontal 4 cm, Vertical 9 cm), with convergence times of 30 min or less, anywhere in the world.
Choice of Package
The Spectra SP80 comes in a choice of packages suitable for your intended application. There's the receiver-only SP80 GNSS Single Receiver Kit, the package that comes with Complete Survey Software (for all your processing needs); the kits that come with a UHF 410-430 MHz Trx or a UHF 430-470 MHz TRx, and the one that comes with a 430-470 MHz TRx and complete software. This GPS receiver is compatible with a number of data collectors, (such as the MobileMapper 20, T41, Ranger 3, and ProMark 120), for extended power and precision. The SP80 is also compatible with Survey Pro and FAST Survey software.
A survey-grade GNSS receiver can make a tempting target for thieves. The SP80 allows you to set the receiver to ensure that it only works in a designated area. If the receiver computes a position that is more than 330' away, or if it finds itself unable to deliver a valid position for about 20 seconds or so, an alarm will sound and the operating system will lock. If the cell modem is operational, the SP80 will send an SMS and/or email indicating its position. You receive an “Anti-Theft Technology” sticker with your purchase to show that your unit is protected.

With an IP67 rating, this GPS receiver is completely dust-proof and waterproof to depths of 1 m. The impact-resistant glass-fiber reinforced case can withstand pole drops of up to 2 m. The patented UHF antenna is set inside the carbon-fiber rod with a streamlined effect that helps protect it from knocks and wind. Receiver dimensions are 8.7”L x 7.6”W x 3.0”H. It weighs 2.57 lb. The LCD interface is readable in sunlight, keeping you updated on information such as the number of satellites, RTK status, battery charge and available memory. The SP80 has dual hot-swappable batteries, so you can use one while the other is recharging, for continuous operation.
