The Calculated Industries Material Estimator is a dimensional math calculator specifically designed for accurately estimating material and cost. It includes built-in functions for cost calculations and precise measurements of the 10 most commonly used construction materials. All measurements effortlessly convert between U.S. and metric units as well as decimal, fractions, squares and cubes. This calculator is the perfect tool for any professional that requires fast precise measurements of material and cost.
Measuring Material Cost and Percent
The Material Estimator has functions that allow careful measurement of up to 10 materials. There are solutions for concrete, blocks, gravel, deck, fencing, studs, flooring, tile, paint, and board feet. Plus you can measure and solve for the cost of similar materials.
Gravel Weight and Weight to Volume
The “Gravel” function is one of many useful features on the Material Estimator calculator. It allows measurement of weight, weight per volume and cost of loose material such as gravel. To perform this task, solve for cubic volumes and press “Gravel” to display the weight of the gravel. You can round this number up to account for waste. Then multiply the result by the unit price and view the cost. Use this function for sand, dirt, or similar materials as well.
Calculating the Number of Studs
Use the Material Estimator’s Studs function to determine the number of studs needed. Enter the linear feet of the wall section, and then press “Conv” and “Studs”. The calculator uses the default on center setting to solve for the number of studs required. It will even add one for the end, giving a realistic result. You can add more for waste or specific situations such as doorways or other openings. Multiply the calculated number of studs by the unit price to solve for material cost. To verify the on center setting, press “Rcl” and “Studs”.
The Calculated Industries 4019 Material Estimator calculator allows you to adjust all default settings and store them in memory as user preferences. It runs on solar as well as battery power, recalls the last 20 entries, performs basic math, and has an auto shut-off feature that activates after 8-12 minutes of non-use. This calculator comes complete with a protective hard case that closes, one 3-volt CR2016 long life battery, and a 1 year limited warranty.
